San Diegans are facing a Jan. 31 deadline to make choices on what kind of region they’d like to see in the future.
A regional survey called Our Greater San Diego Vision has attracted responses from nearly 10,000 participants in the past month and a half, with a goal of obtaining at least double that figure, said Lori Holt Pfeiler, vice president of the Regional Vision Initiative managed by The San Diego Foundation.
The choosing (as organizers call the process) takes about 20 minutes and can be accessed online at ShowYourLoveSD.org.
“We’re getting out in the community and asking people what do they want the region to look like in the future, what kind of quality of life do you want, and what kind of legacy do you want to leave for your children and grandchildren?” said Holt Pfeiler, a former mayor of Escondido.
Residents may weigh in on topics such as economic development; education; housing; transportation; and cost of living.
Organizers have been soliciting greater resident participation in the survey, and are stepping up their efforts as the deadline approaches, she said.
Besides increased announcements in the electronic media and print outlets, the campaign is helped by 20 San Diego State University students armed with iPads visiting senior centers, libraries and community centers to find more participants.
